Annika completed her BS in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics (MIMG), with a minor in Biomedical Research, at UCLA. As an undergraduate, she worked in the Kohn Lab to develop an AAV6, CRISPR-mediated hematopoietic gene therapy for X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia.
After graduating, Annika continued to work in the Kohn Lab as a Staff Research Associate for two years. She focused on engineering HEK293T cells to optimize lentiviral vector titer and transgene fidelity, primarily by investigating and disabling innate immune pathways.
Outside of science, Annika enjoys visiting coffee shops, going out to eat at new restaurants with her partner, reading fantasy (Brandon Sanderson!), watching movies, and solving variant sudoku puzzles.
